    Get PDF
This correlational quantitative research aims to testify students’ independency in lesson study based mathematic learning based on the parent’s economical status, environment, and learning facilities. Research population was 256 seventh grade students of State Junior High School 1 Salatiga Academic Year 2016/2017. 165 research sample students were determined by using Slovin formula (alpha 5%). Proportional random sampling technique was used by using a lottery. Documentation and questionnaire were used to collect the data and analyzed by using multiple linear regression. Research results are: students’ independency supported by parent’s economical status, environment, and learning facilities is 87.70% (significance 0.000); 20.01% (significance 0.008) parent’s economical status; 28,13% (significance 0.000) environment; and 39.56% (significance 0.000) facility supports students’ independency. Thus, good parent’s economical status, environment, and learning facilities increase students’ independency in lesson study based mathematic learning

Students at higher technical educations e.g., bachelors and masters, are traditionally taught in software programming and factory automation. Students at higher economical and management schools are exposed to different strategies and their economical impacts. However, in many education programs, the larger perspective, of how to combine the technical and the economical aspects is not highlighted. Technology Management is a unique program at Lund University Sweden, where a selected number of students from the school of economics and management and from the engineering faculty are taught together during their last year of study. Their views on problems and challenges in todays industry often complement each other. The course Technology, Strategies and Structures includes e.g. projects done in collaboration with industries. This paper includes a discussion about how knowledge about Manufacturing Operations and Strategies, can be incorporated in higher technical and economical studies, and it describes some industry projects done by students

The Effects of a Combined Output and Input-Oriented Approach in Teaching Reported Speech

The participants of the study are 74 first year students of the English philology who were divided into four groups: 3 treatment groups and a control one. The study results do not mirror those reported in the vast majority of relevant literature and points that although input manipulation appears to have more beneficial effect on the development of the interlanguage than the analysis of output, a combination of the two approaches turns out to be the most beneficial and economical

Introduction: Eating breakfast has an important role for growing and educational support in students. The aims of this study were to evaluate whether skipping breakfast had any effect among primary school children in the north of Iran. Materials and Methods: This is a descriptive study performed on 7426 students (3786=male and 3640=female) from 112 schools in urban and rural areas. The schools and students were chosen by cluster and stratify sampling. Data were collected by questioner for all samples through interview. Results: Skipping breakfast were significant among 9.3% of students (female= 9.9% and male=6.7%) and in Turkman ethnic group (6.0%) were significantly less (p=0.001) than other ethnic groups such as Fars (9.6%) and Sistani (9.4%). There were statistically significant differences between gender and type of school, separately (p=0.001). The most important reasons for missing breakfast were low appetite (70.1%), non-flavored foods (11.8%), inattention of mothers (5.2%) and others factors (13%). Conclusion: Our findings indicated that one child out of 11 children goes to school without taking breakfast. On the basis of children's statements, lack of appetite, and uninteresting food materials, were among the most important factors for skipping breakfast, respectively. Also, the higher educational level of parents, good economic condition and the father being unemployed were among the most important risk factors for skipping breakfast by school children, in this region

Measuring Levels of Skepticism Towards Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) Activities

    Get PDF
This study aims to examine how skepticism, as a personality trait, towards CSR initiatives of companies affects students’ decisions to reward (support by purchasing) or punish (by boycotting) companies for their behaviour. The literature review suggests that very few studies considered skepticism as a possible determinant of consumer attitudes towards CSR. A mixed method approach was taken to ensure triangulation, including the use of both qualitative and quantitative research methods. Interviews were conducted to understand students’ perceptions of CSR in general, and quantitative data was gathered to quantify the findings. A scale developed by Hurtt (2010) was adopted to assess levels of students’ skepticism. Further measurements, based on Carroll’s pyramid of corporate social responsibility, were used to assess student evaluations of CSR. An additional measurement was deployed to determine whether the participants were more predisposed to reward or punish companies. The research findings suggest that skepticism is not a determinant in affecting opinions about companies CSR
